custom hand-cut paper silhouette by Andy Smetanka

Your opportunity to own a custom piece of art honoring a person or pet, made by Missoula-based writer, artist and filmmaker Andy Smetanka. Andy meticulously hand-cuts paper into perfect likenesses, creating an heirloom, cherished piece of original art.

Choose from three backgrounds (backgrounds are also made from hand-cut paper):

  • classic plain white
  • blue sky
  • pink sky

Would you like two copies? One for each aunt? One to keep and one to share? Add a second (identical) silhouette for $30. You can mix up the backgrounds.

The process: you send us an image of a person or pet and he takes it from there. Upon purchase, we will send you details on how to best snap the photograph.

Andy Smetanka has been a Missoulian since 1990. His non-paper interests include apples, cider, the musical saw, reading and keeping up with his active young family. To date, he has never cut himself while working with his tiny knives.

Important details.

  • Finished, matted size: 8x10"
  • Buyer responsible for photograph that accurately represents person or pet. We will email you instructions on how to best capture the perfect silhouette (no need for a fancy camera here!)
  • Add $30 for a second, identical art piece (grandma needs one too!)
  • Please allow one week after receipt of photograph for production and shipment
  • Made in Missoula, MT, USA
