Snow & Rose is a wonderful reimagining of the classic little-known fairy tale "Snow White and Rose Red." A stunningly well-written chapter book, it is peppered with Emily Winfield Martin's paintings.

Snow and Rose didn’t know they were in a fairy tale. People never do. . . .

Once, they lived in a big house with spectacular gardens and an army of servants. Once, they had a father and mother who loved them more than the sun and moon.  But that was before their father disappeared into the woods and their mother disappeared into sorrow.

This is the story of two sisters and the enchanted woods that have been waiting for them to break a set of terrible spells.

The world Emily has created sits on the border of enchantment and wonder, with characters who are grounded in real emotions — emotions you'll recognize in yourself.

    book love

This was such a fun retelling of Snow White and Rose Red. My sister and I loved the story as children it was fun to read this longer tale as an adult. I enjoyed the new characters and the authors twist on the story. I will now pass it on to my sister to enjoy. The illustrations are so beautiful I am considering a copy just to take the illustrations out to frame.

    So far so good

We haven’t finished yet. But so far we love it. I’m reading it aloud to my 6 and 9 year olds. There gorgeous illustrations throughout the book. It’s a fun spin on a fairy tale and more complex since it’s longer. Which is perfect for my girls’ ages.
